Summary:In the manufacturing world, non-destructive testing (NDT) play a crucial role in ensuring quality and the integrity of the products. However, a great deal of money, effort and time is put into the manufacture and research of NDT tools. Precision machining and time-consuming production methods result in costly production of these tools. New methods of production are constantly developed, seeking to reduce the required cost and time. A possible alternative may come in the form of additive manufacturing (AM). Various industries are already incorporating these methods for production. High precision, low wastage of material and rapid production are only few of the benefits that AM provides. Therefore, in this study, we explore the possibilities with using additive manufacturing methods to reproduce fundamental inspection probes and defected specimens commonly used for NDT purposes.
