Summary: | Imagine what a battery could do to power almost everything in the world. From a battery that is as big and bulky as in the car, imagine if the big battery could be replaced with just a small battery like those that is as small as 1.5V. By using a boost converter, a small battery like 1.5V could easily be boost to as high as 50V. This will definitely save lots of space in the engine compartment of the car. This report presents the design and implementation of a battery-operated DC-DC boost converter that is capable of boosting the voltage from 5V to as high as 30V. The implementation was done using physical hardware. By using a 9V battery, it operates the microcontroller board to generate output voltage in order to feed the input of the boost converter. When the voltage is boost at the output of the converter, the output is connected to a Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals film. |
