Description
Summary:Since its introduction to the world in the eighties, Additive Manufacturing have evolved rapidly and have become a threat to the conventional manufacturing method. This project aims to demonstrate the importance of Additive Manufacturing to the society and to elaborate the relationship between Additive Manufacturing process parameters and product qualities. To achieve the objective of the project, the advantages Additive Manufacturing bring to the industry and its effects on the industry had been studied. The result proved Additive Manufacturing have world-shaping impact on the industry due to its positive changes it bring, particularly its impact on product innovation and supply chain process. Additionally, an experiment investigating the effect of build orientation on Powered Bed Fusion part’s tensile strength has been conducted to validate the effect of process parameters on product qualities. The experiment revealed that part printed along the build direction displayed a higher tensile strength when compared with part printed in different orientation. Outcome from this project show that Additive Manufacturing have a huge impact on the industry and its influence can be increase by improving its printed part’s quality through studying the correlation between its process parameters and product qualities.
