Summary: | With the increasing concern about global warming and the widespread usage of refrigeration system, it is therefore important and crucial to determine a more environmentally friendly and efficient cooling system. Absorption chiller might be the right solution as compared to air-conditioning systems, which uses refrigerants like chlorofluorocarbons as an indicator of global warming potential (GWP). This project aims to study on absorption chiller using lithium-bromide water working pair and conducting experimental and numerical analysis to estimate the efficiency and feasibility of setting such systems in tropical climates like Singapore. An experimental investigation was conducted on a simulated set-up, which provides cooling water, chilled water and hot water input. The performance data of the system such as the coefficient of performance (COP) and cooling capacity were recorded accordingly. The gathered results were then plotted into graphs and studied to show how the cooling water, chilled water and hot water input have on the efficiency and performance of the system. Also, to achieve the optimal efficiency conditions for using absorption chiller. |
