This support system consists of a wearable elderly tag which integrates several sensor modules together with a microcontroller integrated, low power system on chip (SoC). This report describes the process of developing this elderly tag, including all the considerations taken during the selection of the components, the routing of the printed circuit board (PCB) and the programming of the tag’s functions and communication modes. Achieving an acceptable tag size during the circuit and PCB designing process, variable packet length communication was also used to effectively communicate between the elderly tag and a receiver, where the received information can be sent and viewed on MATLAB for further analysis or display to the user. The casing of the elderly tag was also printed using 3D printing and it is capable of housing the developed elderly tag PCB to be strapped around the wrist of the elderly.
