Summary:This project is part of a laboratory-based experiment for the development of a new experimental technique in anti-submarine warfare. Using a standoff detection method, the project aims to evaluate the feasibility of this new initiative. The scope is to develop a Wave Generation System (WGS), which can simulate a realistic environment for the detection of acoustic signals via a Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV). This report will discuss on the existing wave generation systems and acoustic-sensing technology, as well as the design phase of the WGS. This includes the evaluation of current WGS developed, the proposed design for this experimental setup as well as the fabrication of the components for the WGS. This is used to simulate hydrostatic and hydrodynamic conditions. The setup will be subjected to a test for reliability, using the glint tracking system for measuring the acoustic signals while under hydrodynamic conditions. From the results recorded, it can be seen that the WGS is suitable and reliable is achieving the intended purpose. Lastly, this report will also present some recommendations for future developments of this topic.
