Description
Summary:Objective The objective of this report is to study and analyse the relationship between human motion and metabolism at different exercise intensity. Human metabolism can be related to blood lactate, VO2 intake and heart rate. By analysing and observing these parameters against human motion, a relationship between them can be obtained. Method & Approach The study involved 13 male amateur athletes age between 20-28 years old. The test subjects were required to run 2 sets of test protocols: VO2 Sub-maximal test (multi-staged discontinuous run) and VO2 Maximal test (multi-staged continuous run). In both tests, the intensity of the exercise was increased as the stages progress. During the test, blood lactate, VO2 intake and heart rate were constantly being monitored. At the same time, high speed camera was used to capture the motion. Result The result shows that there is a relationship between human motion and the metabolism parameters at increasing exercise intensity. The equation y = -0.0005x2+0.2697x+ 7.058 can be used to predict the VO2 intake given the human motion variation at lactate threshold.
