Summary: | The advent of renewable energy sources (RESs) for the production of electricity and the advantages of using a dc supply to transfer power from one place to another have resulted in more focus drawn towards the dc-dc converter technology to step up or step down the dc voltage and also to regulate the voltage. There are numerous RESs so it becomes imperative to integrate the power coming from these sources. Parallel-connecting several single input single output (SISO) converters can be used to regulate the voltages from different energy sources but it becomes very expensive as separate converters need many components such as inductor, capacitors, switches etc. A multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) converter which is a single converter with a provision to regulate voltages from different sources and feed voltages to various loads can solve the problem as it uses only one inductor and very simple topologies. Such converters are useful because.
• Input voltages from various sources can be fed and regulated output voltages can be obtained.
• Voltage regulation of both the input side and output side is possible using the switching sequences presented in this report.
• The circuit is not complex and bulky because of the presence of only one inductor.
• The cost is greatly reduced due to the elimination of bulky transformer.
In this project various topologies of MEVlO converters were systematically synthesized after following a specific set of rules. The validity of each kind of MIMO converter has been validated by simulating all the topologies in MATLAB/Simulink and observed the circuit parametric waveforms of the topologies. |
