Description
Summary:This project is focused on analysis of travel patterns of commuter during multi-modal transit joumeys. In this dissertation we consider the following two problems related to transit systems: In the first part, we calculate the traveling waiting time of various types of on the microscopic level by mining smart card data. In the Second part, we analyze the aggregate multi-modal patterns of commuters at major MRT and bus stations. We analyze the connectivity of these stations in terms of commuter flow as well as variations in waiting time across various steps of multi-modal journeys. Firstly, the popularities of travel routes can be obtained by sorting the unique trips. We select the top 200 trips that help us find the common travel patterns in Singapore. Secondly, we analyze the transfer stations in the trips by filtering the popular trips with more than two destinations. Then if these popular trips are sorted, the popularity of each station and common combinations between stations will be acquired. Finally the graph data structure is used to illustrate the relationships among the stations and trips. The travel patterns can be summarized by using above-mentioned result.
