Description
Summary:In this report, a novel melt-drawing device for fabrication of biodegradable multi-material scaffolds is designed and developed to produce polymer microfiber bundle. The device in this report is an upgraded version of the device first presented in 2010. It has similar technology in producing microfiber by using heat draw method, however, some new functions are added to meet the requirement from the researchers, and the design of this device is more flexible to allow further development in the future if needed. Preliminary test was carried out and the device showed its capability to produce microfiber bundles of two materials PCL (Polycaprolactone) and PLC (Poly (L-lactide-co-Ɛ-caprolactone)). Apart from that, the motor control for the device’s heat cups has consistent forward and reverse speed; this feature is important in producing microfiber with heat draw method.
