Summary: | The project compares the medium access control (MAC) protocols suitable for Ultra-wide band Impulse radio based on their collision probability and average power consumption. The protocols are chosen which are suitable to work in a multipath environment for wireless sensor network technologies in which the nodes are required to sleep for most of the time. The main objective is to reduce the power consumption using a protocol with a technology which is already very power constrained. Other than MAC protocols this project also studies about the basic UWB-IR signal generation through different stages of the communication. The collision probability and average power consumption formulas are used to demonstrate comparison between the three protocols. Lastly additional MATLAB programs are written and graphs are plotted for the comparison. |
