In this dissertation, we introduce time of arrival (TOA) estimation in multipath environment. To verify the accuracy and applicability of our proposed method, we conduct channel experiment in an indoor environment, the meeting room, for TOA estimation. Space Alternating Generalized Expectation Maximization (SAGE) algorithm is used to estimate TOA based on the data of channel measurement. We also analyze the results of TOA estimation by calculating the estimation error and variance. Finally, TOA positioning algorithm is introduced including Weighted Least Square (WLS) algorithm and Full Search algorithm. For both algorithms, we do the simulation using four reference devices (RDs) and three RDs, and then analysis the results by calculating the mean error and variance for each algorithm using four RDs and three RDs, and drawing the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of error of each situation.
