Summary:In a globalized society, not being able to speak in English is detrimental. In most countries, English is used as the medium of instruction. Thus, learning English is important especially if one is going to work overseas where English is used as the primary medium of communication. There are English language certifications available and one of the most popular certification is International English Language Testing System (IELTS). IELTS is an English language test. Candidates will receive a certification upon successful completion of the test. This certification allows them to have more job opportunities available and also allows them to enrol in overseas institution. This report describes a Personalized English Comprehension Learning System called English Comprehension Learning System (ECLS). ECLS focuses on IELTS Academic Reading section in IELTS examination. IELTS Academic Reading section involves dealing with comprehension passages and answering at least three different types of question. ECLS aims to help the user to prepare for Academic Reading section in IELTS examination. ECLS also aims to investigate methods that can be implemented into the system to provide useful feedback and recommendation to the user so as to help them improve on their comprehension skill. Further details will be described in the different sections of the report.
