Description
Summary:This report documents my one-year research and development of the Final Year Report (FYP) –Design and Control of Hybrid Energy Storage System(HESS) for Electric Vehicle (EV) since AY 2015/2016. By applying the characteristic and operation performance of DC/DC converter, a ESS was established to drive EV and satisfy the function of recycling kinetic energy from the motor during regenerative braking. To better utilize the advantages of various energy storage devices and improve the system stability, batteries and supercapacitors (SC) are combine together to achieve a HESS for EV. Simulations in Matlab® Simulink® were conducted to examine and investigate the performance of integrated system, NEDC drive cycle was used as load scenario, which able to reflect the power condition over a period of time better. The result from developed simulation model shows how batteries and SCs have been charged and discharged during the entire drive cycle with proper energy storage control
