Summary: | Rising energy consumption is a global concern. It brings increasing all kinds of
pollutions like air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution etc. to our environment.
Thus, to save energy and protect environment, green, clean and renewable energy such
as sunlight, wind, tides, geothermal heat and so on are adopted progressively and widely
nowadays.
This project is to study rooftop solar photovoltaic system through investigating the load
types such as lighting loads, air-conditioner loads and elevator loads in residential,
official, commercial and industrial buildings. The daily demand and price profiles of the
buildings will be investigated. The peak and valley loads of different types of buildings
will be determined from the daily load profiles. The load profiles with the installation of
photovoltaic system will be studied and compared with the conventional load profiles.
The impact of peak load and energy reduction on Singapore power system will be
studied to provide useful information for Singapore generation planning.
There are four types of solar photovoltaic system: grid-tie PV system, stand-alone PV
system, direct-coupled PV system, and PV hybrid system. Considering of limited
physical size in Singapore, stand-alone PV system may be not enough to satisfy the most
energy needs, therefore, we will only discuss grid-tie rooftop PV system with battery
storage in this project.
With reasonable assumptions, excel will be used to simulate electricity demands for
different loads with and without PV system installation in various buildings. Analysis,
comparison and suggestion will be conducted and made based on the simulation result. |
