Organic solar cells have flexibility mechanical characteristics, low in weight and the production cost is not expensive. Therefore, it seemed to be a potential alternative to conventional inorganic photovoltaic (PV) technology. However, the development of such technology is composed with several hurdles where the efficiency of power conversion remains unimpressive for the commercial players, and due to its poor stability in ambient conditions and less efficiency as compared to inorganic solar cell, the printing methods and general practicality for commercialization seemed to be doubtful. This FYP focuses on the process of fabrication and the characteristics of the organic solar cell. Different types of materials and properties will be taken into consideration as well as the factors that contribute to the different efficiency level of organic solar cells will be analyzed. This report summarizes my Final Year Project (FYP) on the high efficiency of organic solar cell.
