Summary: | Mobile applications are getting more and more prominent due to the continuous improvement in Technology. With the introduction of smart phones, there has been a surge in mobile applications in the past few years. The rise of mobile applications has made smart phones more and more capable and it has made a huge impact in the society. Mobile applications have brought much more convenience and solved many mundane problems faced by humans.
The capability for smart phones to connect to the internet has made the passing of information even simpler. As such, mobile data and Wi-Fi technologies have made smart phones capable of controlling other devices remotely. Hence the aim of this project is to explore how an Android application can be created to control a group of fans.
The implementation of the application was done using Android Studio IDE, the official IDE for Android applications development. In this project, there are a total of two phases in the implementation for the application. The initial phase of the project was to explore the various possibility of passing information from the Android application to a local server hosted by a computer. After the initial phase, the application was introduced to an ongoing fan control project in National University of Singapore (NUS). Several modifications were made to the application before it is used for the eventual experiment that was carried out. |
