Description
Summary:The cost of health care keeps increasing, and yet outcome achieved does not increase as fast as the cost does. This can be tackled if every entity in health care works together toward the same objective, which is value improvement. Value, defined as outcomes achieved per dollar spent, should be the main focus in health care. This project aims to develop outcome measurement metrics for cataract treatment, not just cataract surgery, and then to measure the current outcome and value of cataract treatment at one of the restructured hospitals in Singapore. Moreover, this project also aims to look for value improvement opportunities at the hospital, both in the outcomes sector as well as cost sector. The results obtained gives the current value of cataract treatment at the hospital as well as discovers new improvement opportunities for value improvement. With that, it is hoped that this report can act as a first step in moving to value measurement culture for the hospital.
