Summary: | This research aims to be a minute addition to the wealthy literature of the Bangsa Melayu discourse. It aims to showcase and thus argue that individuals (as intellectuals) and their publications of different forms from literary writings to newspaper articles from intellectuals hailing from all walks of lives were crucial to the continued development of the discourse in the post-war period. In their efforts to inspire change and awareness of socio-political realities through their writings, they inadvertently shaped the discourse of Bangsa Melayu on a bigger scale. As a proponent of Malay history, I hope to show that non-political mediums are also relevant as tools of analysis in this discourse. Despite the differences in articulation and forms of writing, these individuals and their works form the contemporary bridges of comprehension for the Bangsa Melayu discourse. These works should be regarded highly as constituents in the making of this intellectual watershed. |
