Fleet management system for autonomous vehicles
With ever growing human population and land becoming a scarce resource measures are being taken to make the judicious use of existing resources. The autonomous vehicle is one such solution to reduce the space wasted in cities for building parking spots and roads. For the past few years several compa...

The autonomous vehicle is one such solution to reduce the space wasted in cities for building parking spots and roads. For the past few years several companies and universities worldwide have been working to build an autonomous vehicle. This dissertation discusses the work that can be done to add to the ecosystem of these autonomous vehicles. This dissertation discusses the future of human logistics when Autonomous Vehicle (A V) will be used as a mode of public transportation. There are 3 main areas that are focused upon: Firstly, a cloud-based Fleet Management System (FMS) for telematics, resource management, demand monitoring, status reporting of the A Vs and for passenger and A V safety; secondly a mobile based A V booking platform for ridesharing service with safety measures; and finally a hardware system compatible with the current and future generations of autonomous vehicles. Together, this report discusses the construction of a complete solution for current generation autonomous vehicles. With ever growing human population and land becoming a scarce resource measures are being taken to make the judicious use of existing resources. The autonomous vehicle is one such solution to reduce the space wasted in cities for building parking spots and roads. For the past few years several companies and universities worldwide have been working to build an autonomous vehicle. This dissertation discusses the work that can be done to add to the ecosystem of these autonomous vehicles.
