Description
Summary:A simple method of fabricating fluorescence quantum-dot-polypropylene (QD-PP) composite was demonstrated. The manufacturing process was as easy as direct coating of the porous polypropylene film with concentrated QD solution. The QD-PP films exhibited very bright fluorescence, high stability and flexibility. Annealing of the QD-PP films enabled the encapsulation of the QDs within the polymer structure and obtain highly transparent composite films. The relationship between annealing condition and the performance of the QD-PP film was determined by varying the annealing temperature from 110℃ to 140℃ and the annealing pressure from 0.2 T to 2.0 T. Various properties, including transparency, emission intensity and morphology information of the QD-PP film were characterized and studied. Generally speaking, the QD-PP films showed high transparency at high temperature. Whereas, transparency did not consistently increase with the increase of annealing pressure. While a maximum transparency was achieved, further increase of annealing pressure decreased the transparency. It was mainly due to the change of polymer structure and agglomeration of QDs. For all fabricated QD-PP films, a consistent emission peak was observed around 610 nm using a 450-nm activation light.
