Summary: | The objectives of the proposed research project are: To develop new pumping devices for chemical and biomedical analysis. The project will focus on micro-scale pumping schemes in polymers. Results from previous works using silicon technology and printed circuit board technology should be adapted and modified for the polymeric devices. To develop new mixing devices for chemical and biomedical analysis, and to improve existing facilities for designing and investigating of transport effects in microscale. To integrate the developed devices in a single system, which has interfaces to hand-held computer platforms. The system should present the commercial merits of portable analysis and medical devices. To establish and improve the current characterization techniques for microfluidics, which is readily available. To train PhD students in the new field of microfluidics. |
