Much attention had been paid to mainstream gifting but there is a lack of attention in souvenir gifting. To understand souvenir gifting as a social phenomenon, this paper examines the process of souvenir gifting based on four themes: motives for souvenir gifting, the souvenir gifting process, outcomes of souvenir gifting and the aftermath. In addition, the paper also highlights key gender differences regarding souvenir gifting and offers possible explanations.
