This is a development report for the final year project - monitoring system for the elderly. The objective aims to give the care-giver a signal when the stay alone elderly encounter an emergency. In this system, the Arduinos modules are acting front end of this system, they will be collecting data then sending to a laptop via wireless communication. These data will be stored into the back-end server – SQL server. A web application is developed to suits the mobile users. With it, the users will need to sign in with the given account and password. Upon sign up, the users could access the collected data based on their account role. The front end and the back-end modules are modular, so to enforce the “Open for extension but Close for modification” concept. With this, it will be easier for the developer to add in the necessary components when needed. At the same time, it will be more cost effective for the user.
