With 1-3% of the global population has intellectual disability, various media source and sports program work hand in hand to reach out to the public so as to promote inclusivity and understanding towards intellectually disabled population. Therefore, multiple studies have looked into the attitude of public towards intellectual disability Purpose: The primary objective of the systematic review is to assess and compare available evidence from research article and documents on the effectiveness of Special Olympics campaign on attitude of public towards intellectual disability between Asian and Western countries. Methodology: A systematic literature method was conducted in order to investigate the seeking pattern in the attitude of public towards intellectual disability through Special Olympics campaign. As a result, criteria eligibility and study search strategy was carried out in which six articles were being extracted out of 129 studies. Six articles were further assessed for quality of research using Black and Downs checklist. Results: Six articles were conducted equally on Western and Asian countries. Two studies were conducted in China due to the recent World Special Olympics Game held in Shanghai. Three factors that affected the attitude of public towards intellectual disability were ‘Cultural Differences’, ‘Media Literacy’ and ‘Education’. Participants from Asian countries showed difference in attitude than the Western counterpart due to cultural and religion belief and lack of media literacy due to high % os population living in rural region. However, both countries showed that education through sports campaign and media led to positive attitude towards intellectual disability. Conclusion: Exposure to Special Olympics campiagn through media and sports program may be beneficial in promoting positive attitude towards intellectual disability. However, due to the overall lack of statistical significance, more studies should be conducted to reinforce the current trend.
