In the development of its sports scene, Singapore is engaged in recruiting foreign-born athletes who represent Singapore on the global sporting stage. This is done to boost its sporting profile and to develop national pride and identity among Singaporeans. Using the FST scheme as a reference, the effectiveness of the FST scheme in promoting national unity and identity is examined. Consequently, the constructs of the "Singaporean" identity are uncovered and then established in the course of this research. |
