Description
Summary:Smart home technology is an increasing adoption in our homes due to the advancing technology. It is a technology where home amenities are enabled with a form of automation or remote control. The system serves to simplify people’s day-to-day life by accomplishing many tasks such as switching on and off appliances automatically and remotely monitoring security camera systems. With the elderly population growing in Singapore, there is a need to ensure that they are well taken care of even when the children are out at work and unable to look after them physically at home. Elderly monitoring systems have been around for years, but usually at a high cost. This project will be focusing on connecting a wearable technology, specifically the Texas Instruments SimpleLink SensorTag, and multiple Raspberry Pi (RPI) together to form a smart home system. This system gives rise to elderly monitoring through the wearable technology that comes with an extensive list of sensors that can be sent to other devices through Bluetooth for its readings. The system also enables video surveillance and medical reminder to give care to elderly in a more efficient manner.
