Summary: | High-speed photography is the science of taking pictures of very fast phenomenon. It is the process of taking photograph at exact moment to freeze motion and to reduce motion blur. It was intended for capturing phenomenon that is too fast for our eyes to follow. This kind of photography has a high level of entry for amateur as the photographer would be required to time the shutter or flash accurately.
The project aims to lower the level of entry by having a device that is capable of triggering the camera by utilizing various sensors with accurate repeatable precision that allows for multiple takes of similar phenomenon without the need of the photographer to go through the trial and error process of estimating trigger delay.
The device used in this project is Raspberry Pi, which is a credit card sized computer that is capable of various desktop PC tasks, it also possess General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) pins that can be interfaced with sensors that can be used as trigger.
To prime the system for capturing, the sensor used for triggering need to be set up at a reasonable distance above where the phenomenon would occur, then the camera settings can be adjusted on the system. After that, the respective sensor is chosen, then the system can be started to monitor the sensor for changes which will trigger the camera to capture. |
