Summary: | The influenza virus is a highly virulent virus that is known to cause many outbreaks and even pandemics in the past and present. A notable outbreak was the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, which was known to be the most lethal influenza pandemic in history. As such, there is a necessity to monitor and record the activities of the influenza virus. However, due to the high mutation rate of the virus, a very large database was needed to contain all the information of influenza. Hence, it would be very time consuming and expensive to extract specific data from the large influenza database. |
