Real-time networking in Zedboard

Real-time systems describe hardware or software systems that are subjected to a “real time constraint”. Real-time programs must guarantee response within specified time constraints, which are often referred to as deadlines. The Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol is a vehicle bus standard design...

Real-time programs must guarantee response within specified time constraints, which are often referred to as deadlines. The Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol is a vehicle bus standard designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate with one another without a host computer. It is widely used in automotive due to its low-cost, lightweight network and error detecting capabilities as compared to connecting electronic devices in vehicles using point-to-point wiring systems in the past. This project aims to implement a system on Zedboard that can support real-time networking. It designs and develop a system that will be able to schedule tasks such that deadlines are met as much as possible. Specifically, it investigates the feasibility of designing a CAN system on the Xilinx Zynq System-on-Chip (SoC) using the Zedboard. The objectives of this project are to: • Implement an operating system (FreeRTOS) on Zedboard • Integrate the system with the CAN Controller on the board to support real-time networking • Benchmark the performance of the system Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering) 2017-04-24T08:56:42Z 2017-04-24T08:56:42Z 2017 Final Year Project (FYP) http://hdl.handle.net/10356/70460 en Nanyang Technological University 57 p. application/pdf
