Description
Summary:Internet of Things (IoT) is fast emerging as the next technology trend of the century. However, the agricultural sector has a low digital penetration rate. This project aims to improve productivity in the agricultural sector through an IoT product in the form of an Android mobile application. This application will provide complete sensory soil data to users using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) when paired with a soil sensor. This paper presents the design and implementation of the mobile application and BLE communication protocol using agile methodology. The BLE communication protocol allows the identification and pairing of sensors, connection between application and sensors, downloading of cached sensor data, and receiving live sensor measurements. The report also compares the application’s planned features with its implemented features, and describes possible improvements.
