It does not only encourage individuals to live a healthy lifestyle, but also builds up a person’s character, discipline, teaches him fair play, ability to take defeats gracefully and teamwork. On the social level, sports are a unifying tool to promote social cohesion among people regardless of their social status and backgrounds because they will get together for a common pursuit. However, there is very little emphasis on the local sports scene in the past. Recently, the government has come up with new initiatives to develop the interest of sports among Singaporeans. In this context, this mobile application - Social Sports will serve as a social platform to help people connect and organise team sports with one another easily. There might be people living nearby that wants to play the same sports but they do not know each other to get a game going. On the other hand, it is a hassle for sports organizers to arrange a meet up to play sports together. This application will provide a solution to these missed connections. The mobile application – Social Sports will be developed using the latest technology of native iOS Development, Swift 3, which was only released in September 2016. Swift is a new programming language that is developed by Apple for iOS, OSX and watchOS applications. This mobile application will also display some of the new and unique features that Swift has over Android and Hybrid mobile applications. After a detailed market research, there is definitely a demand on such applications to help facilitate sports players or people who will like to stay active. Hopefully, it will give a boost to the local sports scene which the government is trying to do. Furthermore, this mobile application will be tested within a group of sports players in the NTU community to help students to stay active and also helps people to organize sports more easily.
