Description
Summary:This Epilepsy monitoring and alerting system is designed to provide support for people suffering from epilepsy and also its caregivers. This developed system provides a non-invasive mean of monitoring and studying a possible seizure attack and an alert the caregivers via SMS to give the patient the necessary assistance. The developed system makes uses of a galvanic skin response (GSR) sensor, heart rate sensor and the surrounding Pollutant Standard Index (PSI) to determine the stress level of the patient. Three different tests are conducted on the patient to characterize the galvanic skin response (GSR) and heart rate stress levels according to the individual patient to ensure a more accurate prediction. Caregivers will have access to the IOS/Android app to monitor the patient’s live stress levels and track the patient’s seizure attacks. This project also aims to study the link between perspiration with epilepsy; this will be done with a trial period to monitor the patient. In addition, this system also provides an analytics platform which logs the data and attacks of the patients onto the raspberry pi webserver which can be accessed by the doctors through the Restful API (Application Programming Interface) on the front end of the IOS/Android mobile app.
