Description
Summary:As a part of MA3001 Machine Element Design, the belt drive topic teaches learners on how to design, calculate, and select the proper components for a realistic belt drive. This portion of the module is currently delivered through a live lecture by a professor in a lecture theatre complimented with lecture notes. However, to enhance the learning experience of the Belt Drive section, a self-paced learning courseware is developed for the learners. Generally, a self-paced learning software is created to replace the live and recorded lectures. The software included vital information on belt drives and have visual aids (such as videos and illustrations) to accompany the teaching. Furthermore, indications such as colored diagrams and boxed up indicators helps the learners to comprehend what are crucial and to focus in on the crucial areas. Animations are incorporated into the self-paced learning software to show learners of certain flowing procedures. This would provide them a guideline to follow, making their learning process easier. A separate lecture note, which is derived from the self-paced learning software, allows the learners to refer and take down any notes if necessary in the black spaces available. This allows the learners to be able to learn better as the hand writing process would strengthen their learning. Each of the slides in the self-paced learning software has the subtitles placed at the bottom. This is to complement the explanations of the slides and prevent any loss of information to be conveyed to the learners. Although the self-paced learning software is not developed to its fullest potential, it is still capable in delivering the Belt Drive section of MA3001 Machine Element Design as a self-paced learning software itself. Recommendations are to be imposed on to the project in order to enhance the self-paced learning courseware to the fullest potential.
