Description
Summary:Structural monitoring using wireless sensor network is an important application of network embedded system with significant commercial potential. Many efforts of research have been dedicated to wireless localization projects. The success of Global Positioning Systems has enhanced outdoor applications in many different areas such as vehicular navigation and lost items recovery. However, due to the high cost of indoor localization and its requirements of precision as well as accuracy, these applications has not yet been possible to be applied within buildings and infrastructures. The objective of this project is to build and demonstrate an experimental low cost wireless sensor network that can be used to locate objects by means of sound signals within a residential building. By this way, there will be no need for a complex indoor localization system which may have significantly high cost and is also very difficult to implement. The main purpose of this simple system is to assist senior citizens who are prone to forget their important objects in the house. Besides from that, this network system can also be used to navigate pathways within the building or serve the mission of signaling in a huge structure.
