Description
Summary:Non-destructive testing (NDT) have always play an important role in ensuring the quality and integrity of manufactured product in the manufacturing sector. However, huge fund, effort and time is put into refining and manufacturing of NDT process and tools. Precision manufacturing method for NDT tools is time consuming and results in high cost production. New innovation for production are constantly develop, seeking to reduce cost and time needed. One such alternative comes in the form of additive manufacturing (AM), which has become popular in many industries for its flexibility and convenience it provides for user. Many industries have incorporated AM into their production line for limit scale production. High precision, low material wastage with rapid production are few advantages that AM provides over conventional manufacturing. Therefore, in this study, we explore the possibilities of using AM to produce fundamental ultrasound inspection probe commonly used for NDT.
