The following report journals my experiences and key learning points during the art direction of Such Is Life. Being a black comedy, the production design team aims to bring out the core of dark humour and satire through its environment and characters. The setting is an intended marriage between playfulness and morbidity. Majority of the film’s critical and poignant scenes are filmed on set, making the challenge intimidating and yet exhilarating. In retrospect, despite moments of limitations and immediate troubleshooting, the art team has achieved the expectations and objectives of the production design beyond expectations.
