In the era of Digital Age, various manual work can be replaced and improved by computerization. Therefore, the project aims to design and develop a system for Nanyang Technological University, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering for smart scheduling of laboratory (lab) make up lessons. Smart Scheduling System (SSS) is developed and design as a mobile-first and responsive website that uses web technology to automate and simplify end to end processes when students apply for make up lab classes. The usual approach when students apply for make up lessons requires various department involvement such as admin, lab technician and professor. This is to ensure there is an available vacancy for the student and problems arises if the lab lesson required pair work among students. In addition, the class attendance list must be manually updated and this may result in a waste of time and resources. SSS simplify the procedure when students apply for make up lab lesson, from the simple and intuitive user interface (UI). Students can select their ideal date for the make up lesson and automated email would notify them once the schedule is approved. Another feature of SSS is Smart Attendance Taking System (SAS) which uses both web and mobile technology to record student’s attendance which could save resource and create an environmentally friendly environment. In addition, SAS can help to avoid students from falsifying attendance time.
