Description
Summary:Since the demand for quality electricity grows, there is the need to be able to keep up with the expectations of being a good power utility in Singapore. Therefore transmission and distribution equipment have to be properly maintained to be able to keep up with the standards. The process of condition monitoring can be slightly automated and be safer with the help of non-intrusive measurement instruments such as thermal imaging processing. This report explains the development of a system to identify the temperature of the selected hotspot of substation equipment by creating substation measurement systems using MATLAB. A background of essential parts of electrical system such as thermal imaging processing, the significance of good power quality of substation equipment and importance that substations are delivered in this report. Using MATLAB, temperature comparisons using the RGB value of the selected pixel to the temperature scale was used to derive whether further actions are required for substation maintenance operators with thermal imaging processing methods.
