Summary: | An unmanned aerial vehicle, in other word UAV is recently getting more and more popular for researchers and students or even hobbit lovers who have spent longer time on the UAV projects. UAV has been referred to in many expects of projects such as Remotely Piloted vehicle, drone, robot plane, and pilotless aircraft are a few names of it, most of the time called UAVs which is defined by the Department of Defense as powered, aerial vehicles that never meant to carry on-board crews or passengers. By using aerodynamic forces to generate upwards lift for the UAVs, designed to fly autonomously or controlled remotely which expendable and recoverable features, in addition to be able to carry lethal or nonlethal payload. However, in recently years, UAVs are not only a military project anymore, they have been massively designed and applied under the influence of commercialize and hospitalize, as well as the inclination of entertainment provided a huge impact in UAV industry. This project is focusing on the fundamental basis of building a quadcopter with least components that can carry an additional payload.
This report focuses on the designing and constructing of a small size quadcopter, which covers details of essential parts such as motors, propellers, flight controller, batteries and other components that used to mount onto the quadcopter. Each component will be explained in theory on how they contribute to make the quadcopter fly.
Based on the study and understanding of how the UAV works, the results of propeller and motor combinations testing will be used to apply on the actual UAV design and construction. Sufficient payload is one of the main requirements for this project, so to enhance on the propeller and motor study is essential to make the quadcopter reach its best performance. |
