Ultra-capacitor is an alternative to conventional battery energy system(BES) and renewable energy system (RES). To integrate the ultra-capacitors, we study the application of power electronics in DC/DC converters which require the duty cycling control of the converter via the Proportional Integral (PI) control method. MATLAB programs carried out the procedures of testing and troubleshooting the different boards such as the power board, control board etc. Protection system design against faults such as overcurrent, short circuits and Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).
