Summary: | For years, humans have tried to harness energy for their own comfort. As the decades past by and as more and more natural resources are being used, there is a focus to look for alternative, clean energy. In other words, people are now looking for energy sources that do not require fuels of any sort. One of the alternative is piezoelectricity. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, piezoelectricity has the definition “electricity or electric polarity due to pressure especially in a crystalline substance (as quartz)”. The direct piezoelectric effect was first seen in 1880, and was initiated by the brothers Pierre and Jacques Curie. While there are many researches and applications that already exist about piezoelectricity, research on obtaining piezoelectric energy by electrospinning nanofibers has yet to go in depth. Hence, in this research, we will try to peel another layer of skin off the study of electrospinning of piezoelectric nanofibers. |
