Description
Summary:This project aims to investigate large deflection bending of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer laminate composites material with configurations of [0°]8. Specimens was cut into beams by bandsaw with dimensions of 400 mm*20 mm*1.4 mm. Intron-5569 machine was used for three-point bending test for span length of 180mm, 250mm and 300mm. Experimental data was obtained from test machine and photo captured in the test. An analytical method was studied and formulas were developed for the relationship between central deflection with load, slope angle, central deflection and effective length. Maple software was used to plot with theoretical data. Then experimental results were discussed and compared with analytical results. The effect of span length on large deflection bending was observed in all plots. Recommendations to the specimen material and fixture design for future studies were made.
