Description
Summary:Low-resolution images can be enhanced to become higher-resolution images by carrying out weighted interpolation in image processing. Image quality can also be preserved during image amplification via up-sampling or image interpolation. High-resolution images have higher pixel-count and will appear to be sharper, clearer and visually desirable. Nonetheless, for every method of interpolation, limitations are bound to exist. This report explores the fundamental methods of interpolation, and focuses in experimenting with Nearest-Neighbour Interpolation (NNI), Average Interpolation (AI) and Sharpening Interpolation (SI) on images. Observational analysis and comparison will be made with reference to the output images.
