Description
Summary:Light-Fidelity (Li-Fi) Technology is the term used by Professor Harald Hass during a TED talk. Being a disruptive technology, there has been a large growing research interest to explore the potential of using the light as a medium to transfer the information instead of the conventional wireless transmission methods such as Wi-Fi and RF. Not only the visible light frequencies are free to use, it comes with a very large bandwidth. By using light as the medium for data transfer, it will mean that it is very secure as it does not pass through wall or ceilings. Finally, the visible light is definitely safe and free of radiation. In this report, we will discuss about the basic foundation of this Li-Fi technology such as advantages and disadvantages as well as important applications of it. Also, we will build a prototype from scratch as a proof of concept which shows how it transmits data using a single LED. Finally, we will discuss about the feasibility of this technology.
