Summary: | Accuracy of the electrical power measurement system is one of the most critical parameters that contribute to the overall accuracy of the Measurement and Verification system for a chilled water plant. Nonlinear components have been extensively used in chilled water plants such as Voltage Frequency Drive (VFD) pumps, VFD chillers and other digital control systems. Thus, high level of Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) can be observed in most of the chilled water plant rooms. In this project, high accuracy digital power measurement system will be setup in a chilled water plant room to analyse the contribution of individual components to the THD and to study the effects of the harmonics on the accuracy of the power measurement system.
This report analyses the effect of current harmonics on the accuracy of power measurement systems. This report also consists of the methodology used to determine the current harmonics effect on the power measurement system as well as the implementation itself. Data were collected with the help of SQL workbench which receive inputs from the actual chilled water plant work site. |
