Description
Summary:In the recent 20 years, Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCL) technology have seen rapid development and have important applications in the field of mid- infrared lasers, especially in the wave4-6 micrometer infrared band. Thus, this report aims to summaries the basic theory and electrical and optical characteristics of quantum cascade laser. This report includes the research and experimental parts on the Quantum Cascade Lasers. First semester is focused on the research, most of the time is spend on doing research on the new technology development of laser and different type of infrared laser, and learning the Quantum Cascade Laser theory and its applications. QCL shows a different working principle with traditional semiconductor laser. Furthermore, learning the coherent Quantum Cascade Laser which is built multiple layer on the one Quantum Cascade Laser. Coherent Quantum Cascade Laser is a new development on the QCL, it is small size but have a strong signal.
