Summary: | With the evolution of technology, people are gradually shifting to wireless and simple lifestyle. Almost anywhere, there are system that does not require physical contact such as Microsoft Kinect. As such, system that can recognize human hand gesture can bring a lot of convenience to daily life. With a single gesture the system can do a lot of things. However, there are a lot of hand gestures that requires a webcam and in order to reduce the cost of buying a webcam, PIR sensors are used as it serves the same purpose of detecting, cheaper and the only difference was that there was no vision to compare.
In this project, hand gesture recognition will be done with PIR sensors array to discuss if they are reliable to use and produce desired results. There will be simple algorithm used in order to detect different hand gestures that are already saved inside a database from a PIR sensor array. Different algorithms are used to identify the different gestures made and detailed results are shown at the results sections.
In conclusion, it is possible to use PIR sensor array for hand gesture recognition, but there will be some errors or restrictions that made the results not accurate. |
