However, queuing causes waste of time and frustration. Mobile application technologies have advanced very quickly the past few years, it has been used to aid us in many daily tasks. Furthermore, the adoption rate of smart mobile devices which uses these applications has been increasing in an astonishing rate. Therefore, this project aims to make use of the mobile application technologies to develop queue management systems for smart mobile devices. The SmartQ management system is a queue management system that both the customers and the commercial entities use. The SmartQ management system is developed as a mobile hybrid application due to the ability of being able to create a mobile application for multiple platforms to target as many audiences as possible. Being multi-platform entices users and commercial entities alike to adopt this system. The SmartQ management system reduces the frustration and time wastage of the customers by allowing them to access the queue status through the mobile phone anytime and anywhere, while eradicating the physical wastage of space by removing queue information displays and queue waiting areas, along with retaining customers who would otherwise be frustrated with waiting and left the queue.
