Design of an integrated moire effect system

The moire effect phenomenon is often regarded as an optical illusion created by superimposing two layers of similar light and dark patterns. The study of moire effect is often used in photography and even applications in the advancement of science. However, it is thought that there is an opportunity...

The study of moire effect is often used in photography and even applications in the advancement of science. However, it is thought that there is an opportunity for the moire effect phenomenon to be integrated as a system in a product for the creative and entertainment industries. The first part of the project aims to design and fabricate a product prototype with an integrated moire effect system. This seeks to promote the use of moire effect in a creative and interesting way. In fact, such products can have many possibilities in terms of market opportunities. Animations can be easily shown using moire effect by considering each frame which is similar to how gif is created. Designers can then create interesting animations to be integrated with the moire effect system, therefore, making the product useful in different situations. The second part of the project aims to design and fabricate a button prototype design that can prevent accidental pressing. In a specific case study, it was found that the flight attendant call button was designed to be placed on the arm rest of the passenger seats. Since many passengers will tend to rest their arms and elbows on the arm rest, the flight attendant call button was accidentally pressed many times. Hence, an alternative cost-effective solution to modify the button to prevent accidental pressing is proposed to be worked on.
